Thank you for this interview!

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I’m a busy wife and mother on a farm with cattle and horses. There’s never a dull moment.

When did you start writing?

As a child, officially though, 2012 after my first daughter was born.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

I’m happy right here at home. I don’t need to run away or go on a retreat to write.

You write a little bit of everything. Which is your favorite to write and why?

I like including the Western flair into my work, there is a certain romance to cowboys, and cattlemen. I guess that’s why where I can, it slips through into my work, whether it be historical or paranormal. I love it all really.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

Is this 4 hours on my own? I’d write. If it’s 4 hours kid-free with hubby? Well…. That’s between us and the bedsheets! 😉

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?

Can’t think of anywhere yet. I have a few stories in the works that cover most area’s or settings.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

If I knew the answer to that, I’d turn the tap off when I don’t have time to deal with the flood or idea’s and turn it on when I want them.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them.

Ready for release this year I have:

30 June – An Unexpected Revelation – Book 2 of the Unexpected Trilogy

Oct – An Unexpected Space Story in the 42 And Beyond Anthology

Dec – An Unexpected Undercurrent in the Building Love Charity Anthology

2019 – Love Still Hurts in the Love Still Sucks Anthology

Journal Through Time Collaboration

Miracle Charity Anthology

An Unexpected Hellhound – Book 3 of the Unexpected Trilogy

I also have the following works in progress:

Dragon Scorned

Heartstone of Dragons

Roping Her Duke

Earth Invasion 2020

Thank you for this interview!

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I’m an office lady where I supervisor a small group of technical people who basically write and manage grants.

When did you start writing?

When I was five I wrote a story that won a young writer’s conference. I don’t think I’ve stopped since that first short story.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

Home is where the heart is. However, I’d love to go back to Europe. I loved Italy, it was so inspiring!

You write a little bit of everything. Which is your favorite to write and why?

Fantasy. I just love creating entire worlds. I keep coming back to it like a yo-yo on a string. There is something about creating a whole new world that people lose themselves in. The characters like the worlds sometimes nag me for weeks or months until I at least write their outline or get a chapter out of my head. There are so many magical realms/worlds I haven’t written or shared yet. That is part of the reason I can’t stray too far from fantasy for long, there are just too many worlds and characters that want to be written.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

Read and write. I never have enough time to do either. Maybe play some video games, because I also don’t have enough time for those either.

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?

Alaska. I’ve started and stopped multiple books that are on my home turf. I really would love to finish one that is set in Alaska.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

Dreams. I think my subconscious is always at work. Plus it helps that I’m a lucid dreamer so I get to write stories in my sleep.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them.

The Nowhere Gate is coming out in August of this year. Release date to be announced with the cover reveal on July 7th.

In addition to wrapping up the editing for The Nowhere Gate, I am also starting first rewrites of The King’s Gate. So right now I am living and breathing The Gate Trilogy’s second and third books. When I’m not working on those, I’m writing Unfathomable Chance #2, an anthology fantasy story (from The Gate Trilogy world), and a fantasy story tied to a local escape room.

Author Spotlight with Faith Ryan

What do you do when you’re not writing?

If I’m not in class or working, then I am reading all the dirty romances that I can get my hands on 🙂 and doing bloggy things for the book blog that I am a part of.

When did you start writing?

Oh geez, in school I used to write poetry and short stories, then after I graduated and had my kids, writing was put off a bit. Slowly as my kids got older, I started writing again. I have a paranormal romance that I started years ago and I add to it whenever I get in a slump. I honestly never thought that I would have my stories out in the world for others to read. It’s just something that I enjoy doing.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

Paris. I’ve never travel outside of my tristate area, but Paris is my dream destination and I would love to be able to relax on a balcony overlooking the city and just write.

You write a little bit of everything. Which is your favorite to write and why?

M/M, because two hot alpha men is sexier than one. 😉 but I also enjoy M/M/F. I love writing characters that are different from me and you can’t get any different than a woman writing about two men falling in love and having sexy times!

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

Is this uninterrupted alone time? If so then I am writing all the words. Or sleeping, probably sleeping.

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?

London. I love British accents, even in books.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

My best ideas usually come when I am driving to/from work and I replay the interesting conversations I’ve had with friends and co-workers. Lately, I’ve gotten a lot of inspiration from my Den of DAT ladies.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them.

Right now, I have five WIP. Three serials that will release next year, a dark fairytale retelling of Little Red Riding Hood where the wolf gets a HEA, this has no set release date, and the continuation of Travis, Dylan and Ashlyn’s MMF story from Unexpected in the Kiss My Luck Anthology. I am hoping to have their book written and out into the hands of readers before the end of the year, I want to say the end of September but I am not firm on that and don’t want to disappoint anyone. Oh, and I have a co-write planned with an amazing author 😉 Who wants to read a Dark MM MC Mafia Romance???

Part II

These are super fun get to know the author questions. Basically similar to Would you rather. Pick 5

Q: Alpha male or Rockstar?

Alpha male Rockstar 🙂 that way I don’t have to choose

Q: Winter or Summer?

Summer

Q: Salad or Soup?

Salad

Q: Swimming in a lake or the ocean??

Neither, I can’t swim

Q: Earthquake or Tornado?

Umm, what kind of questions is this? Who has a preference in natural disasters?

Q: Bath or Shower?

Bath

Q: Coffee or Soda?

Coffee

Q: Sausage or Bacon?

Bacon. YUM!!! (I may be a bacon fanatic.)

Q: Football or Baseball?

Neither give me hockey or mma

Q: Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise?

Neither, Tom Hardy

Q: One long vacation or several short mini vacations?

Several short mini vacas, I can travel and visit all my dream destinations, starting with Paris.

Q: Exercise in a gym or at home?

At home. Trust me; no one wants to see me do this shit in public

Q: Rock or Country music?

Both

Q: Cruise or Resort?

I would love to say Cruise, but since I can’t swim, it scares me, so Resort.

Q: Receive Chocolate or Flowers for a gift?

Flowers, I’m not big on chocolate

Q: Your life is a movie would you rather be cast for an Action movie or a Comedy?

Comedy for sure, and there better be lots of dic pics 😉

I didn’t follow directions and answered all the questions lol

Author Spotlight Colette Davison

Thank you for this interview!

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I’m a stay at home mum of a 9 and 3-year-old, which is a full-time job in itself!

When did you start writing?

I think as soon as I could hold a pen! I’ve been scribbling stories down for as long as I can remember.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

One of the Greek islands. I love Greek mythology and the landscape in that area of the world is so ruggedly beautiful. Feels like the perfect place to set a romance!

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

More writing! Or more sleep. I get up early every morning so I can get some writing time in before I have to organize the kids for the school run.

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?

So far, my books have all been set in the UK (with the exception of Why I Trust You, which has a few scenes in the States). It would be nice to set a story in Europe. Or maybe one of the Greek Islands, so I can combine romance, history, and mythology.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

Often, a see a face that intrigues me and then my muse starts throwing me character ideas. Characters are the beating heart of my novels, so it makes sense that they are always my starting point.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them.

My latest novel, A Dance For Two, is coming out on the 26th of June. At the moment, I’m working on finalizing its companion book, A Dance For You, which I should be releasing in August. I’m also editing For You I Fall, a paranormal romance, with my co-author, T.N. Nova. It’s going to be the first book in a series and we’re currently just over halfway through the first draft of book 2.

Author Spotlight: Tarrah Anders

Thank you for this interview!

What do you do when you’re not writing? If I’m not writing, I’m promoting. If I’m not promoting, I’m working my day job, cleaning the house, spending time with my family. Or kickboxing.

When did you start writing? I don’t believe there was really a time that I can remember that I wasn’t writing. I grew up writing short stories and poems. I began authoring, in 2015.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why? Australia or Italy. I want to go to the outback because it’s always been a dream of mine. And Italy, because that’s where my heritage is. I want to eat all the food, fall in love with the scenery and drink all the wine.

You write a little bit of everything. Which is your favorite to write and why? I personally prefer the second chance trope, I like to give redemptions and feel that everyone should have a do-over.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do? Write. I would lock myself up in a room, turn up the music and write. Or sleep. I miss a sound night of sleep..

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet? In another country. I prefer to write about a landscape that I’ve been before to get the facts down and to have it realistic. I wrote THE BRUTE by having a fictional city and that was difficult even though I could just make it all up.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is? I’m a people watcher, we all are by nature. I get a lot of my ideas from wordplay, by someone swiping something off their face, by someone shouting something, by two people having dinner… all situations are an opportunity for me.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them. I have THE BRUTE releasing 06/15 (EDIT TO SAY, JUST RELEASED THIS MONTH/ LAST MONTH?)  I’m currently working on a project that I haven’t given a name to yet. I have one manuscript fully outlined and one about 60% in the process, with a release for August-ish.

Part II

These are super fun get to know the author questions. Basically similar to Would you rather. Pick 5

Q: Alpha male or Rockstar? Rockstar

Q: Winter or Summer? Summer

Q: Salad or Soup? Salad

Q: Swimming in a lake or the ocean?? Lake

Q: Earthquake or Tornado? Earthquake

Q: Bath or Shower? Shower

Q: Coffee or Soda? Coffee

Q: Sausage or Bacon? Bacon, ALWAYS BACON

Q: Football or Baseball? Baseball (Go Giants)

Q: Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise? Brad. He’s the better vampire.

Q: One long vacation or several short mini vacations? Several minis

Q: Exercise in a gym or at home? Gym

Q: Rock or Country music? Rock

Q: Cruise or Resort? Resort

Q: Receive Chocolate or Flowers as a gift? Flowers

Q: Your life is a movie would you rather be cast for an Action movie or a Comedy? Comedy.

Thank you for this interview!  I’d like to know more about you as a person first.  What do you do when you’re not writing?
Usually, Im catching up on TV, that I missed due to writing, lol
When did you start writing?

When I was around 12, i started making short stories and it evolved from there.

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?
Making sure I treat my writing as a business and micro manage it in a way that I know all the projects I want to come out in the next year, and creating a schedule I can follow to hit those goals.
If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

Hawaii. Therese just something about being in a quiet cabana looking at the ocean and mountains, that id love to experience.
If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?
Id take a nap most likely. Sleep has been pretty elusive the last month or so
Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?
In the 50’s or 60’s era. Something about poodle skirts and classic Chevrolets…
Crashingbookcoversmallername
Back to your present book, Crashing Into Me, how did you publish it?
I self published it. It was a labor of love and I made sure to do all my hard work justice by getting an editor which is pivitol. I’d advised anyone not to consider putting anything out there without a decent editor.
In writing your book, did you travel anywhere for research?
No I didn’t have to. I’ve visited Georgia and other mountain states in the past, so the fictional town is a mashup of places I’ve visited before. As for Florida, which is also mentioned, I actually live here, so need to travel there either, lol
Why was writing Crashing Into Me so important to you?

I wanted to tell a different story, one with realistic high-stakes and one i wanted to read. Also with the lead Male and Female being multicultural , I think it’s something our country needs more of. Who cares who you love? Just love.
Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

I get my ideas from examples of people around me, music I listen to, dreams I have. And sometimes, every once in a while, a story hits me out of the blue and it dumps in my brain. I dont care where I am, I stop and write it down so I can go back over it later and add to it. When that happens it always a little freaky but it makes the first draft go by in a whiz lol
What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so,

The sequel to Crashing is underway as well as some other exciting developments I cant mention yet, but stay tuned.
Part II
This or That?
Q: Alpha male or Rockstar? Alpha Male
Q: Winter or Summer? Winter
Q: Salad or Soup? Soup
Q: Swimming in a lake or the ocean?? Ocean shore
Q: Earthquake or Tornado? Neither! Hurricane, I at least know how to handles these
Q: Bath or Shower? Shower. Bath depends on what kind of tub is involved lol
Q: Coffee or Soda? Coffee mornings, Soda through the day
Q: Sausage or Bacon? Ugh, why do I have to choose? Sausage lol
Q: Football or Baseball? Football
Q: Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise? Brad Pitt baby. “The Legends of the Fall”, if you dont know it, Google it asap!
Q: One long vacation or several short mini vacations? Hmmmm I think several mini might be a good pressure valve sort of solution lol
Q: Exercise in a gym or at home? I’d rather pass out and look like a hot mess at home.
Q: Rock or Country music? I like Island Rock and Shania Twain. Cant make me choose
Q: Cruise or Resort? Resort
Q: Receive Chocolate or Flowers for a gift? Chocolate
Q: Your life is a movie would you rather be cast for an Action movie or a Comedy? Acton movie

Author Spotlight Alex R. Carver

So sorry! I got a late start this week. The author spotlights are a bit out of whack, but here is my interview with Alex R. Carver the author of the Inspector Stone Series!

Thank you for this interview!  I’d like to know more about you as a person first.  What do you do when you’re not writing?

I like to play games on my computer and puzzles from the paper, that’s how I spend most of my spare time, but I used to be a golfer, and would like to take it up again.

When did you start writing?

The first time I wrote anything was when I was ten, it was a creative writing assignment for English class, I wrote a children’s adventure story that was reminiscent of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series; I’ve been writing off and on ever since.

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

Amazon’s introduction of the KDP platform, hands down. When KDP was established it gave an avenue for authors like me, who either couldn’t or wouldn’t publish through the established publishing houses, to get their books into the hands of the reading public.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

I would love to go back to Egypt and write there, I’ve been in a boat that went past the hotel where Agatha Christie wrote Death On The Nile; it would be wonderful to take the same room and write a book where she did.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

Sleep, I have difficulty sleeping and often only get 4 or 5 hours, if there was an extra 4 hours in the day I could get a solid 6 to 8 hours, who knows what I could accomplish then.

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?

Just as I’d like to go back to Egypt to write a book there, I’d like to set a book in Egypt, perhaps even an historical story to take advantage of my love of mythology.

Back to your present book, Where There’s A Will, how did you publish it?

After many hours of hard work I released the 1st book in my Inspector Stone series through KDP, I chose to make it exclusive for the time being to take advantage of the marketing opportunities through Select, and I also published my paperback through Createspace.

In writing your book, did you travel anywhere for research?

Fortunately, I didn’t have to travel anywhere, I was able to do all of my research online. I say fortunately, but it might have been nice to have to go somewhere to do some research.

Why was writing Where There’s A Will so important to you?

The idea got into my head and wouldn’t leave me alone, the same as all my stories; the only way to get it out of my head was to sit down and write it. Of course, once I did that, another story took its place and insisted on being written.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

I don’t think I have anywhere that produces my best ideas, they come at me from all directions, and at all times of the day and night.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them.

I have a serial killer thriller, Written In Blood, currently available for pre-order, the official release date is April 1st, it’s about a small English village being terrorised by a series of rapes and murders – it’s not for the easily upset, though I have shied away from depicting any of the actual murders, they occur off-screen, so to speak.

These are the super fun get to know the author questions. This? or That?

Author Spotlight Amy J. Hamilton

ajh

Thank you for this interview!  I’d like to know more about you as a person first.  What do you do when you’re not writing?

My pleasure, thank you for the opportunity! I run a small part time weight loss business. I have a husband, two teenagers, some tropical fish, a degu, a tortoise and a (flying, talking, fire breathing) bearded dragon to look after. I cross stitch things that have no real use whilst watching too much television. If I had the time I would play the piano more and maybe make more candles. I love walking whilst listening to music or an audio book.

When did you start writing?

Has to be when I was about 8 when my dad produced a rather large notepad one summer and asked me keep a diary every day. It was a habit that was with me for at least the next ten years of my life. I got through a lot of paper!

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

I blogged for a few years and was lucky enough to have a small following of people who said that my blog was the first thing they read when they arrived at the office. Several of them said I should write a book. When I did, firstly I was pleased it sold a few copies, but what was gratifying was the number of people who read it who told me they really enjoyed it. A few of them are even eagerly awaiting the second book. I wasn’t expecting that.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

I’m sitting on the sofa in February in SE England at this point and my toes are cold, I think I’d go anywhere warmer. Or Hogwarts. With a quill. I’d quite like that.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

Oh that would be amazing. I could get all the chores done meaning that I could then relax and have time to do something frivolous like cross stitch. Or maybe dig the piano out from under the pile of business stuff that makes it inaccessible.

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?

I would like to have to confidence to set something in our modern day world. I write in a futuristic fictional world so no-one can point the finger and tell me “it doesn’t work like that”

Banner.jpg

Back to your present book, Modified: Lunar Medical book 1, how did you publish it?

Modified has been self-published as an ebook on Amazon and also on iBooks. I am contemplating producing the paperback version, just as soon as I find those extra four hours in a day!

In writing your book, did you travel anywhere for research?

No, no travelling required, just a warped sense of humour, a slippery grip on reality and whatever research might be deemed necessary to write erotica!

Why was writing Modified so important to you?

That is a very good question and the answer is bullying. All through my school life I was bullied because I was “the fat kid.” According to the classic conditioning of my childhood I was not supposed to amount to much romantically. To coin an overheard phrase from a parent back then I was supposed to be “left on the shelf.” I’ve written erotica to prove them all wrong on the understanding that in order to write it I must have at least some experience and therefore have not turned into the 45 year old virgin that I was destined to be.  Or in short it’s me sticking my middle finger up to the bullies!

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

I was quite withdrawn as a child and cultivated an awesome imagination. I am constantly day dreaming scenes that may or may not make it into future books. I also appear to have the ability to make random links between things which can then turn into quite good story lines.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them.

I’m currently being very nicely pestered for the book that follows Modified, which I’ll probably call Nate and Day after two of the main characters. After that I’m wondering if the people waiting for book two will be ready for Blue Lights which is male/male erotica about a cop and a medic. It’s set in a future world with flying cars that I really had hoped we’d have by now!

Author Spotlight Julie Gerber with Away We Go Media!

51cigioccwl-_ux250_

Thank you for this interview Julie! I’d like to know more about you as a person first.  What do you do when you’re not writing?

I am at my desk, working on beta reading or social media campaigns for clients. When I am not working, I am either reading, watching movies with my kids, or daydreaming about moving to the beach.

When did you start writing?

I started writing in middle school. I published a piece in the newspaper and my mom said from that point on that I would be a writer one day. I didn’t believe her. Fast forward a few (okay maybe more than a few) years, and here I am!

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

The most pivotal point came about four years ago when I met Carole P. Roman. She made it look so easy. She was cranking out books and I was trying to keep up since I was managing her social media. She taught me a lot about writing and how to put yourself into a character’s mind. She has been a wonderful and inspiring mentor and friend.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

Scotland or Ireland. I feel there is magic there and if I could sit in an old stone house (or even a castle if I could afford it) I think I could whip up the most enchanting tale ever written. That might be a stretch, but then again, it might not!

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

Sleep. I never get a full six to eight hours sleep and that is what I would do if I had the time. Can you arrange it?

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?

I would like to set a story in Savannah, Georgia. Georgia is my home state, and there is so much about Savannah that begs to be written. I am fascinated every time I go.

Back to your present book, Navigating Indieworld, how did you publish it?

I published it with Carole P. Roman through Createspace. We were offered a contract to publish, but felt that the book, which is about self-publishing and marketing, should be done the indie way.

In writing your book, did you travel anywhere for research?

I did not, but maybe I should have. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to meet up with Carole in some indie bookstore after splurging on ice cream.

Why was writing Navigating Indieworld so important to you?

This book was very near and dear to my heart. I have had so many authors find me over the years because they needed advice after being burned by a vanity publisher. This book was created for all of them. It was created for anyone struggling with marketing and selling their books. It was created for the people that were brave enough to write their stories down and then stare at them, wondering what they should do next. I hope we have helped aspiring authors and the published authors that wondered what was next.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

I get my ideas from experiences. Navigating Indieworld is based on daily experiences and other author’s frustrations.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them.

I am working on my first solo book. It is based on the story of my great aunt, one of the first women to become a doctor in the mountains of North Carolina. I think her story is one that should be told and I believe it will be appreciated.

Part II

These are the super fun get to know the author questions. Basically similar to Would you rather.

Q: Winter or Summer? Summer! I hate the cold!

Q: Salad or Soup? Soup. I love soup!

Q: Swimming in a lake or the ocean?? Ocean! I would rather deal with a shark than an alligator.

Q: Coffee or Soda? Soda. I hate coffee, but I do love the way it smells.

Q: Cruise or Resort? Resort. Hands down. I would hate to get stuck on a ship with a lot of sick people!
